Guest Smokey Grindel Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 We are going to purchase w2k8 server here soon.. right now we are running a trial edition without hyper-v (thats what the version said when we downloaded it) but my question is why are there two versions? With and Without hyper-v? i thought hyper-v was still in beta? and thought it was going to also be in all standard / ent editions? does it cost more for it? will all versions get it when its done? what should I look for when purchasing? because I have two options, with and without, and strangely with costs less?!... I'm so confused...
Guest Bill Grant Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Re: With and With out hyper-v Servers without Hyper-V are about $28 cheaper. They will not run Hyper-V. I suspect the reason for this is to avoid being sued by the EU for bundling Hyper-V with the server OS. This way they can claim that it is an optional add-on.
