I want to buy a lap top that matches my current PC specs which are:

2.00GB RAM Memory

465GB Hard Drive

Intel® Pentium® D CPU 2.80GHz

GeForce 9500 GT Graphics card

Would the laptop below be a good choice ? The CPU is less speed

Even though the processor is slower then mine it will still be as good ? It does have more RAM I dont know if that makes up for it.

Its not always the speed of the processor, its the chip type and the architecture behind it.

for example the more cores the better (either physical or logical) the amount of cache it holds etc.

an old socket 754 or 939 chip is nothing compared to the modern AMD dual chips nowadays.

that being said there are not many rigs around that can beat my Q6600 :) (which by todays standards is old)

First of all what is the lappys main usage? if its just browsing the net and playing flash games then you can get away with less.

on the other hand if you plan on playing games ect and using it to edit photo/video files then you need a realistic budget as the power needed isnt cheap.

Does it have to be a laptop? is it just the convenience rather than sitting at a set location, or do you need to be 'mobile' with the PC?

give us a main use and a budget and we can see what we can come up with ;)

you want to consider the major manufacturers such as DELL, HP, PACKARD BELL, you tend to get 'more' for your money than you do with the likes of ACER, SAMSUNG, ASUS etc. and if anything ever goes wrong with the lappy there are lots of help channels available

Ok thanks :)

I would prefer a laptop because it takes up less space and i would like to sit in my living room instead of in the room i am in getting bum cramp.

I want it for playing point and click games like Myst and Penumbra games like Drakes fortune, Bad Company I wont be playing as I use my PS for those. Basically the games you cant get on the ps3.

Also using programs like IMVU and Second Life, I don’t store a lot of files my current space used on my hard drive is 65 out of 465 GB obviously having a laptop I may download a few films and watch these so I will need space for 1 film and 1 game. I use word ect that's all really. I don't edit videos or large photo files.
