Guest Boteasy Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Hello, I have one domain controller and 1 window server(IIS web server). There is firewall between this 2 machines. I have opened the following port: TCP: 53,88,135, 389, 445, 507, 1025, 3268, 3269 UDP: 53, 88, 123, 389, 445 The client cannot logon. However, if I open port 137 - 139(NETBIOS), it can logon. Can I force the client to use DNS to query the domain controller instead of NETBIOS? Or any setting I set up incorrect? Please advise. boteasy.
Guest Bill Grant Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Re: Firewall What OS are you running on the DC? NT used Netbios names for logon, but from Win2000 it should be using DNS to find a logon server. It is pretty pointless having a firewall if you keep on punching holes in it!
