Remote Desktop on 2000pro

I've installed RD client on one of the 2kpro PCs on the network and

when I try to use it co connect to other computers it works just fine.

The problem is when I go the other way round so connecting say from

the 2003SBS to that 2kpro machine. I'm getting a message saying that I

cannot connect to that computer as remote connection might be not be

enabled on it. How do I go about enabling it then? There is no Remote

tab as in XP. I found some articles about installing TS on it from Add/

Remove Windows components but I jus can't find it there. Does anyone

know how to get it work?

Thanks

Windows 2000 machines cannot act as hosts for Remote Desktop

connections. You need a server or else a WinXP Professional machine.

Hello Yaro.

Windows 2000 Professional does not support Remote Desktop (inbound). You can

install the remote desktop client on it so you can remote into other windows

comptuers that support it (Windows XP Pro and Server 2000/2003) but that's

it. Windows 2000 Server supports inbound RDP (remote desktop protocol via

Terminal Services) but they didn't include this functionality in 2000

Professional.

If you really need to be able to remote into a 2000 Pro box, you can use

other software like the freely available TightVNC

HTH,

Jim
