Hi,

I've setup a small ethernet network between two Computers. The strange thing is, the pc that connects directly to the internet cannot browse the internet, nor download via any program. But the pc that connects to the internet via the network can browse and download no problem. I have tried a few options on the internet settings but just cannot fathom it. It really just makes no sense.

Any help greatly appreciated.

There's only two ways to do this as far as I know.

1. Connect the two PCs together via an ethernet cable and set up Internet Connection Sharing.

2. Connect both PCs to a Cable/DSL router (best way).

In both cases check that both PCs have an IP address and also reset your router.

It can also depend what router you have if you are using this method. For example an Orange Livebox needs pairing up with each PC first.

Ae you using a crossover cable or a straight through CAT5e?

you would then need to enter the NIC of the PC controlling the internet connection and select 'allow other computers to access the internet though this connection'
