Using POP3 Outlook Accounts

My boss is pushing for our users to use Outlook on the term server and

not on their desktops. We use POP3 and not exchange. What type of

pros/cons should I investigate before reporting back to him? I'm

thinking Licensing would be a big one as well as security... Any

thoughts?

Thanks,

Matt

Re: Using POP3 Outlook Accounts

I am running outlook POP clients on one server as terminal server is only

environment users can access. I have no problem running it.

You will need to have one license for every user running outlook.

Only problem running outlook with terminal services is when in exchange

mode, meaning connected to exchange, some of the features are disabled ( I

miss only cached folders). For that scenario take a look at

Do you allow HTML or text only emails? Do you block certain

attachments? or do you allow Outlook to run just as it would on a

desktop. I'm a bit worried that something will happen to the backbone

of this company. Thanks a lot for your post!
