Guest Scott Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I'm setting up a MOSS07 database server which will be Server 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2 64 bit (x64). However, when I access the MVLS site to download that product under terms of Volume Licensing, that OS does not appear. The only choices are Server 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2 or Server 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2 64 bit Itanium. Where am I supposed to obtain the correct OS download under Volume Licensing?
Guest Scott Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 RE: Download Correct 64 bit OS Version Also...the server will have 8 GB of RAM and running the 64 bit version of SQL Server 2005 Standard. With the R2 SP2 64 bit version, is it necessary to tweak boot.ini with /3GB /PAE /USERVA=3030? Or does the OS take care of that? Guest Harry Bates Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Re: Download Correct 64 bit OS Version I don't know about your download problem, but you do not need to use the PAE switch in 64 bit because there is no PAE. PAE is Physical Address Extension from Intel that has an algorythm to allow a 32 bit operating system to utilize more that 4GB of ram. By default with 64 bit you are in the terrabytes.
