Printer Redirection Problem

One of our customers is experiencing some bizarre problems with

printer redirection via terminal services. There are 3 printers that

are being redirected and the appropriate drivers for each of these

printers has been installed on the terminal server. Periodically, the

redirected printers will dissappear from the printers folder and they

will call us up and complain. Each time we encounter this issue, we

log them off, restart the spooler on the terminal server and log them

back in. Like magic, the printers reappear and work correctly. Has

anyone experienced similar issues with redirected printers

disappearing from a terminal services session? Any help is

appreciated. Thanks.

Non-MS print drivers sometimes have the uncanny ability to screw

up the print spooler on a TS server. Yep, this is based on

experience.

What type of printers are they?

Check to see if MS has a print driver at

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com

If any of the printer at the following links match your printer

and model, I would remove the current drivers and install these.

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=Zebra%20

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=star

If these drivers do not match, you may need to use a third party

printing solution like Thin Print.
