This is in reference to a Gartner statement. I think Gartner is a little off on this, but one thing I see is this: Microsoft is giving developers mostly what they want, and that's why Windows is a very successful development platform. However, Microsoft isn't really giving end consumers what they want. And the stuff they are giving (Windows Media Center, for one), they aren't telling the world about it. I have yet to meet an end user (non developer) who bought Vista or a new cmputer with Vista that knows about Windows Media Center and that it can record your TV programs and burn them to a DVD. The first thing I know most people download, after they bought a new computer, was iTunes, if it wasn't already installed.. Even if they don't currently own an iPod.

Anyone have thoughts on this?
