SP2 kills major funtions of 2003 Server Standard R2

Hi all,

I installed SP2 yesterday, and a whole bunch of features have stopped

working. Help & Support, Search, and Run when selected from the Start button

do not function (I get a message saying "Windows cannot create a shortcut

here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?"); the

Administrative Tools, Network Connections, Portable Media Devices, Scanners

and Cameras, and Scheduled Tasks links in Control Panel do not respond; I

have shortcuts on the desktop to several of the Administrative Tools (AD

Users & Computers, System Manager, etc) - the shortcuts still work but the

icons for them have disappeared (they just have the generic shortcut icon).

The specific packages I installed were:

KB948590

KB947864

KB945553

KB944338

KB941693

KB914783

KB904942

KB948881

Anyone have any ideas as to what happened and how to fix this?

Hello Terry Hall" terryh at cds-sf dot org,

For Help and Support is have used this a lot of times:

http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2007/03/20/help-and-support-service-missing-after-installing-windows-2003-service-pack-2.aspx

The rest never heard about or experienced myself.

Best regards

Thanks Meinolf, but all of my services seem to be running OK. This is just

plain weird.
