update of sql server not updating

Hi Everyone, Having a few problems on my bosses desktop, firstly Microsoft update of SQL server 2005 express edition service pack 2 doesn't install properly but keeps asking for it to be updated? do i ignore it? if so how do i stop it? or do i need something else 1st? some help and guidance needed please im ok on a computer but my bosses aren't too comfortable. What are you actually trying to do?, if you are trying to update and dont have the correct permissions set then it wont allow it.

Its not clear if you are trying to update the actual server itself or a desktop connected to the network
