Hello all,

As the title of this thread suggests I can connect to my wireless network but not the internet.

My wireless adapter is a getnet wireless 802.11n, 300Mbps USB adapter.

My router is D-Link Wireless N Router DIR-615.

My operating system is Windows 7 32-bit.

When the chap came to install the internet, he setup my girlfriend's laptop to connect to the internet, so the internet is working... just not on my computer!

I did an IP config thingy and I got this result:

So does it connect if you connect the PC to the router via an ethernet cable?

for 300Mbps speed you need to use WPA2 encryption.

If you can connect to the router wirelessly but not the internet then something must be stopping you, such as the SSID (name of the router that was set up) and the passphrase that was also set up.

Thanks for your reply.

When the internet was installed the engineer set the security to WEP, so I guess I would need to change it to WPA2. On a related note I have tried removing the security altogether and it still doesn't connect to the internet.

I will look at the SSID, although my wireless receiver is finding and connecting to the network, I am definately entering the passphrase correctly so I guess I can eliminate that possible cause.

I have read elsewhere that the windows 7 is a bit awkward when it comes to dlink routers so this might also be part of the problem.

did you try with an ethernet to rule out the fact that its not the drivers of the device trying to access the router.

Connecting to a network is one thing, connecting to the internet through a network is something else entirely
