Ok, a reformat/reinstall will certainly fix the problem.

Thanks for letting us know.

We don't actually do this for a living, (as we don't get paid for it :) ) it's a spare time thing.

Thanks Starbuck. I realised your presence and help here was voluntary, I just assumed that you did this as a day job as well. Ah well, my bad as our American Cousins would say.

 

Very many thanks for your patience with me and my problems and also apologise for my impatience in seeing it through. I still have to wait as that re-installation of Vista means it can't see the router. I now await a cable to directly connect it to the BE box to get it up and running again.

 

At least the Mrs has a laptop alternative.
