Guest Spin Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Although this a server newsgroup, you all probably either use Windows XP or Vista as your administration workstation. Therefore I am posting this message here. Microsoft plans to end most sales of Windows XP on June 30, despite a deep reluctance by many business and individuals about moving to Vista. I personally believe Vista has too heavy of a memory and disk space footprint, less snappy performance, and it fails to allow one to go back to the classic look and feel of XP. For instance, what happened to the old fashioned vanilla folders in Explorer? And the lack of an "UP" button in Vista's Explorer as well. (Now why did the have to take that away?) Guest Freaky Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Re: Let's save XP!!! Why would this be an issue? You can downgrade Vista Business to XP Pro (w/o buying any licenses). As long as XP is supported this shouldn't be such an issue. And yes, I do hate vista with a passion. Always thought one of the better things about windows compared to linux was the filebrowser (that is, w/o webview in list mode). Now they killed that too. There's actually very little I get about the new browser. Appearantly they want to move away from browsing folders, dragging files etc. The idea probably is that it the future we will all be searching for files instead of browsing for em. Albeit IIRC they removed that feature from Vista for now due to NTFS issues or something :) Spin wrote: > Although this a server newsgroup, you all probably either use Windows XP > or Vista as your administration workstation. Guest Colin Barnhorst Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Re: Let's save XP!!! That's only true if Vista Business came preinstalled and only if the user already owns a retail copy of XP Pro.
