Hi Everyone.

This is my first post on your very helpful forums. as I am a 'Newbie' on here and with PC problems.

I have a Compaq Presario SR2019UK PC that I have had a number of years now, and had no problems until now. My PC runs Windows XP Media Centre 2005 edition.

About 2 months ago I decided to upgrade my graphics card from on-board graphics to a better one, and a friend kindly installed it for me and everything was running superbly until about a week ago my PC started to change graphics cards (from PCI to On-board everytime I turned it on)

so this ment changing the Moniter wichever was working at the time of start up, I kept going into setup and the right PCI was set and not on-board, but it would still change everytime I started up the PC.

Now the big problem I have is while I was moving the PC while turned on to change the monitor connection to get the screen working I managed to pull out the power lead, when I turned on the PC again windows started to load then after a couple on seconds would just re-boot my PC

and come up with 'your Computer did not shutdown properly) etc. Now I have tried to start windows in all the safe modes but it starts to load thenwill turn off and boot up again.

I have tried to do a system recovery (F10) but, for the first two times it started to load then came up corrupted, now when I try F10 does not work at all. I also do not have a XP media Centre 2005 disk, so cant use that.

A friend gave me a recovery disk in the hope I could fix it with that, but it's all Dos stuff and have not a clue how to do anything.

Any help would be much appreciated, on any ideas to how I can fix this problem, just hope you can understand my rubbish post.

Regards

Gnasher
