When do I need to use the /3gb switch? or the /3gb /userva=3030?

read somewhere that I need /3gb only when my box has between 1gb to 4gb

physical memory only.

anything above 4gb I do not need any switches.

this is on a virtual machine

Hi,

You don't use the switch if you have <3GB.

Re: when to use /3gb switch?

I have a virtual machine assigned 4GB of memory. However when I ass the /3gb

/userva=3030 switch to boot.ini, the performance is very slow.

when i take the switch out it is working fine.

The machine is windows 2003 and nothing running on it

Maybe because it's a virtual machine.
