JayCee6828 Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Can anyone who has achieved it tell me how to connect my Win 7 machine to my TV using the HDMI sockets. I have set the output to hdmi in the bios but my TV just says 'no signal'. Would appreciate an easy steps guide, Thanks Quote
Cyprus Hector Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Have you checked that the TV is set to the right input channel i.e an AV channel? Once the HDMI lead is plugged in to your PC and the TV, your PC should know which monitor it's using without changing your bios. Mine worked fine with just plugging the lead in and checking the input channel on the TV rather like plugging in a DVD player. Quote
JayCee6828 Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 Thanks for the reply. Yes it is correct, when you select 'Input' from the TV remote you get a lot of icons representing the various inputs there are. The following are normally selectable with all the others greyed out : AVI1 (Virgin TV), Component (WII box on standby). Strangely HDMI1 (DVD Player) is not selectable until you turn it on. When a cable is connevcted from the PC to HDMI2 then HDMI2 is also selectable whether the PC is on or not when the cable is connected. In the BIOS of my motherboard there is a selection 'D-Sub/DVI' or 'D-Sub/HDMI' which I have changed to the latter. In my display in the Control Panel I have selected two screens and 'output to both'. One annoying thing then is that the rsolution is changed to 1024x768 rather than my normal 1280x1024. Does this mean that the TV is reporting that is it's maximum display? Still the TV displays 'no signal' even though it must know something is connected in order to give you the HDMI2 selection. Any guesses what is happening here - all I want is to output the same display as on my screen to the TV as well. Quote
Cyprus Hector Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 How have you got on? Wondered if you have found the solution. Quote
JayCee6828 Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 Hi, thanks for asking but I have got absolutely nowhere as no one else has offered any advice - I am sure it should be possible but as I am not technically experienced enough I may have to give the idea up. Quote
Cyprus Hector Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I wonder if your HDMI socket is working correctly. May be worth getting that checked out. I have a TV as a monitor and use the HDMI cable from my PC to that. I didn't play around with my bios settings nor have I altered Win 7 to 2 monitors as I only use the one. When I want to watch TV I simply use the input button on my TV remote to change from HDMI to TV or DTV. Quote
