emachines D620 dc jack issue

:confused:trying to fix the dc jack on it.how does it connect.basically which pin(going to connect a wire instead of a new jack) connects to the positive and which to the negative of the wire so that the thing doesn't blow up straight away , or the battery doesn't charge , or it works for two days and does a slow meltdown or somethin(and stops working,right).

If you are going to connect wires instead of a broken socket you'll need to take the board out to do the soldering - you've probably got that far already.

 

Personally, having got that far I would buy a new socket - they are £1.75.

You can probably work out the rest from the pictures. I'd be surprised if anyone on the forum would be doing that sort of guessing considering the possible consequences.

As Synapse suggests, replacing the socket is the best option and not too difficult to do, have a look here for instructions if needed-
