Hi there can anyone help please. My pc runs with windows xp home edition and I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to just press a key and your email address would be inserted into your text. I only know a few shortcuts and i think they are very user friendly and as I am such a slow typer having this set up would be a great help.

Many thanks Trazza

Hi Trazza.

I can't think of a single application in any shape way or form that would allow such a thing or any Windows keyboard commands that can do it for anything.

However if you can be more specific on exactly want you want to do with what perhaps someone can provide a slightly easier way of doing it.

Hi Trazza.Yes there is a way without having to continually type in email addresses.

Firstly.What Email are you using?

Hi, I am using outlook express.

What I am trying to do is this.

When I am on the internet and I want to open a new tab I press control and T and hey presto a new tab appears (brilliant) and what I was wondering is whilst surfing the internet and I have to put my email address in to get replys etc is there somthing like control and Z I could press and my email address would automatically appear in the field.

Many thanks

I miss read your initial post.

I thought you wanted to use a key stroke to enter email addresses in your emails. Sorry.

Now your intentions are clearer,if i find something I will post.:)

The only way I can think of doing it would be to open a notepad type your email and then CTRL and C to (copy) then everytime you want to copy the email address you just need to CTRL and V to (paste) Its not a permanent fix as you would have to do this everytime you start the PC, it also stops you from being able to use the CTRL C and CTRL V method with any other programs/text

Following up on what Dalo and DSTM have said. What I do is keep a single word document on my desktop with all email addresses and other things that I regularly copy. I keep I minimized but open. From there it is quick and easy to copy and paste by whatever method you choose and you never get your own email address wrong.

Thats a great idea BeeCeeBee, I wish I'd thought of it before. I'm going to start compiling my own desktop Word doc straight away...Thanks for the tip..:)

While I'm here I'll mention that for anyone who uses MS Word alot. There is an option in the program to replace text as you type. What this enables the user to do is to just type a few letters or words and have MS Word automatically finish the sentence or paragraph for you.

Example: I find myself almost on a daily basis typing........

"The following is an estimate of costs for the proposed work at the above address."

But all I have to type is "The following"...then Word fills in the rest for me.

To set this up on your own PC press F1 to bring up the help menu and type Auto correct options.

What you're looking for is the Replace text as you type option.

I thought I knew today...I'll try again tomorrow. :)
