W2K3 ASR Backup Floppy Disk

W2K3 ASR backup insists on creating a floppy disk which must be located in

the A: drive.

How archaic is that? Very few of my servers have floppy disks drives.

I gather that this floppy disk stores information on the hard disk

partitions.

My question is . . . can this data be redirected to another location / disk

drive?

I haven't found a way to do it.

Re: W2K3 ASR Backup Floppy Disk

Found an answer in an earlier post.

(Don't know why my Outlook Express search didn't find this. . .)

LauraEHunterMVP:

You can still run an ASR backup without a floppy drive. Just run the

complete

backup and cancel at the end when prompted for the floppy. You will have

a complete backup. The three files needed for the ASR floppy are found in

%windir%\repair named ASR.SIF, ASRPNP.SIF, and SETUP.LOG. These files can

be copied to any media for safekeeping, they will be needed for an ASR

restore

(%windir% usually is c:\windows).

To my knowledge you will need a floppy drive to perform an ASR restore, I'm

not sure if there's any workaround for this.

Hope this helps.

Hello Wake-Up-Jeff,

Better use a free newsreader and not OE. For example:
