NPSSTARTUP any ideas

Hi folks,

 

Im new to here so hello to you all.

 

I just ran my CC cleaner and looked at files that are in start up, there is one called NPSSTARTUP.

 

I have spybot and adaware and avg virus scan neither of these have picked anything up.

 

Is this something thats part of Windows XP, or something else? Can it be deleted?

Hi Mikey. NPSSTARTUP. is a registry command and should NOT be deleted.

I don't like any registry cleaners.

Deleting the wrong entries can cause your Operating System not to boot,and you will have to reinstall Windows,

so be very careful.

I agree with DSTM in all respects. That being said are you experiencing any problems that would cause you to run CCleaner? You should not use it for anything other than a general cleanup of your temp and cache files unless you know exactly what you are doing.

 

While that entry is clearly a registry command, I don't understand what it is doing in your startup??? If you look in msconfig in the start tab, does it appear there as well?

HI thanks for the speedy reply,

 

When i do MSCONFIG it is not showing however there is a box ticked for start up, but has no writing beside it to say what it is. very strange.

 

On thelocation it says HKLM/SOFTWARE/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run but as i said above under command its blank

 

Is this normal all i can presume is this is the NSPSTARTUP.

HKLM/SOFTWARE/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run and msconfig startup tab are one in the same.

 

msconfig is just a util to visualise the registry entries and modify them if needed.

 

Your npsstartup entry is the command to start the Samsung PC studio background program. You can remove it if you wish, but a better option would be to disable it using msconfig. That way you can reverse the decision if you need the PC Studio to auto run when you connect the phone.

Thank you that also makes sense as i have a samsung stuido installed, ill click on msconfig and deselect it.
