Home folders map to root of share

Don't know if I am in the correct newsgroup. This has just started

happening and seems to be spreading:

All users map their home folder U:\ to \\server\share\%username%. This has

always been the case and there has never been a problem. I set this up in

the user attributes, not in GPO.

Now many users' U:\ is mapped to \\server\share\, but it is intermittent.

Usually a reboot will correct it, but until rebooted, havoc prevailes. If a

user has their U:\ drive made available offline, when they logon, it then

tries to sync the entire share with all kinds of security violations.

If I catch it happening, I will go into regedit and note that

HKU\Volatile Environment\HOMESHARE is changed to "\\server\share" instead of

it's normal setting of just "\"

Surely there is a solution out there. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

Correction....in regedit, HOMEPATH is messed up when it should be "\" and

HOMESHARE is \\server\share instead of \\server\share\username.

Hi - I replied to your identical post in m.p.windows.server.networking. In

the future, please don't multipost - if you need to post to multiple groups,

it's best to crosspost instead, by posting a single message to a handful of

relevant groups (separate the NG names with commas) so that everyone can

follow the thread. Multiposting wastes everyone's time, including yours, and

may lead to your actually getting *less* help rather than more.
