Terminal Server Remote Administration licenses

I believe we may have a Remote Desktop Administration licenses on our Windows

2003 server. Terminal Server and Terminal Server license components are not

installed (or, they are not checked); however, when two of our Domain Admins

(and , Domain Admins have been permissioned in Remote Desktop access) only

one can login. When the other tries, they get at the Remote Desktop

Connection a message: Remote Desktop Disconnected with additional notes

that: 1. remote desktop may not be enabled or 2. the maximum connections

have been exceeded or 3. a network error exists. All three don't make sense

since 1. remote desktop is ENABLED and 2. only one has logged in thusfar

and 3. it doesn't matter who connects from any location and any PC so long

as it is only 1 connections. So, that leads me to believe the issue is

licensing of the Remote /Terminal Server. So, my guess is one of the Domain

Admins may have tried to activate Terminal Server in Application mode and

then removed it..or, something like that to have made the licensing

confused......in any case, all we can do is log in one user at a time but

that is not convenient. I'd like to resolve this. Can anyone help?

On the server -> Administrative Tools -> Terminal Server Manager ->

Click on the server.

Is there only one user on?

I am just wondering if there is a user logged on to the console

itself.

Also, do the Domain Admins use different logins? Just checking?

Re: Terminal Server Remote Administration licenses

I asked two of the admins to try to RDP into the server. The first logged in

fine, the second got the Remote Desktop Disconnected message. When looking

at Terminal Server Manager...only 1 user/RDP session is listed. I then

asked the user to logoff and let the second login. She did so fine. then

when the first tried to login, he got the same message. TS manager records 1

users session only. So, Remote Desktop only allows 1 login

Thanks

Hmmm.. Interesting..

1. Are you sure they are using different logins? Just making sure.

2. I don't know if this is a good idea or not (I hope Vera or others

in the know will shout out here), but what if you installed Terminal

Services and then try to login multiple people?

Like I said, from an application configuration standpoint, I do

not know if this is a good idea or not. You may want to

do some searching on this first.
