Guest gjb Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Hi, We recently had a W2K cluster shared volume on a SAN require to have chkdsk run on it. We detached the LUN and reallocated it to another (standalone) server (running W2K3) but although the server could see the new disk it appeared as unreadable in disk management. Is this because of the NTFS differences between W2K and W2K3. I had imaged W2K3 would recognize and mount the W2K volume. TIA, Geejay

In 2003 enterprise and datacenter versions, Windows will not automatically mount a newly added disk. You just need to manually assign a drive letter and then you should be able to access the disk. See the following KB for more details. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822653 Regards, John Visit my blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/jtoner "gjb" <gjb@ntl.com> wrote in message news:OESB2lJoIHA.3652@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Hi, > > We recently had a W2K cluster shared volume on a SAN require to have chkdsk > run on it.
