klaura Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Hi I had a worm and tried to get rid of it but eventually my computer shut down. It now will nolonger load up at all not even in safemode, it gets so far and then get the blue screen :-( I dont have the windows xp disc as it came pre loaded, so I downloaded the link from the web site but not sure what to do next and cant seem to transfere that to a cd. Please help I have some really preciouse photos which I really dont want to lose Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 :) Two things 1. When you get a blue screen it will give you an error message usually with a lot of 0s in it. what message are you getting? 2. What is the Brand Name of your Computer and what is the Model Number. I would not worry too much yet. At worst you should be able to retrieve your data. klaura Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 Thank you so much for you quick reply I've been trying to sort this out for days. My computer is Acer travel mate 4230 error code is c000021a (fatal system error) 0xc0000034 when I scanned the computer before it went wrong it kept coming up with a worm in systems 32 so I would clean it up and would work for a while then would happen again. this kept happening and I kept cleaning it with virus scan in safemode. Then it just stopped working all together. I hope thats the correct info you need Quote

klaura Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 it was from this link http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/downloads/4255-windows-xp-recovery-console.html once I downloaded it I unzipped to a folder I created and the tried to burn that file to cd Quote
seedy21 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 (edited) it was from this link http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/downloads/4255-windows-xp-recovery-console.html once I downloaded it I unzipped to a folder I created and the tried to burn that file to cd You don't unzip this file you burn the file as it is. I would download Deepburner from Here. Install as you would install it. Open the program and Click Burn ISO Image or something similar. Tell it where the file is where you downloaded it to. Then burn the CD and it will then work. Before doing this have you tried Last Known Good Configuration ??? Boot up the computer when at BOIS screen press F8 at the indicated time: For an x86-based computer: When a screen of text appears and then disappears , press F8. (The screen of text may include a memory test, lines about the BIOS, and other lines.) There may also be a prompt that tells you when to press F8. For an Itanium architecture-based computer: After you make your selection from the boot menu, press F8. There may be a prompt that tells you when to press F8. [*]Use the arrow keys to select Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.
