Same problem over this way.

Windows 2k3 Enterprise SP2.

Random "grey screening"... have done more logging/troubleshooting than I care to recount... userenv.dll logging, you name it.

Monitoring after the server starts "grey screening" new sessions shows that the logon process "completes" and the applications (explorer, iexplore, "published/startup" apps, etc.) startup, but the session won't show it until 15-30 minutes later, and even then, performance is sub-par.

This has left me scratching my head for months... as it happens on both physical and virtual terminal servers we have, we've built new ones from scratch and it happens on those too...

What type of NIC?

Have you tried checking or unchecking "Bitmap Caching" and/or other

options on the client?

Just trying to shoot out other ideas.
