A little over a month ago, Mary Jo blogged*about a rumoured spherical Surface Machine that may or may not have been shown behind closed doors at TechFest. If I'm not mistaken, that's visible for two seconds at 3:57 in this video from Microsoft Research:

Is this a first glimpse of the consumer version of Surface? The sphere looks kind of... desk-sized. Apparrently, the device itself is a Magic Planet display from Global Imagination, but I don't see any mention of touch capabilities on that site... Early prototype?
