Hi there again

I came to you with a problem, about slowness of my pc, I have yet to upgrade memory as advised. However the problem just got worse over the days and I felt I'd try a formate had nothing to loose.

Every thing seems really good now running swift enough.

I feel I may have caused the confilcts myself over a period of the year.

* I had notified windows update NOT to upgrade to ie 8 (as it was I thought it was affecting some old programs i used) Then as time went on I realise updating ie was important, I did not know how to undo the stop, so I downloaded ie 8 from a web site.

*Also window update constantly failed installing service pack 3 - again after web search and reading up I got sevice pack from anoter web site.

*I then went on to try many different registry cleaners ( where as before I only used ccleaner) I think I was to trustin of the 'fix it' buttons.

I think all the above was a resulting in many conflicts.

All is now good, I think it advisable now just to stick to xp's clean up options, and Malbytes,

Hope it ok to start a new thread, just wanted to update you, though I will still invest in further memory.

Glad you're sorted out Karen. Upgrading your RAM will have a big effect on how your computer performs.

I think you're wise to stick to the programs you know and trust. Do be very careful of using any registry cleaners...even better still, don't use them at all. You can end up with a bigger problem than you had in the first place...

I thought I knew today...I'll try again tomorrow. :)
