redscott Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 hello people, At the moment im having troubles with my hard drive partitions, ideally I want to get rid of it, but after a quick search on the net it seems like a long winded process - I found out that vista have its own disk manager so I thought I would settle for shrinking my partition (I need space for my C drive..... so I can install more games :D ) , but it states that access is denied - I again searched this on the net and found that the most obvious problem is with vista's programme itself, thus I thought that I will reformat my non-OS partition and then shrinking would probably work (as someone in a different forum suggested), but alas I go to format the partition and it says that a programme is using it and that formatting it could create problems, but I have no idea what programme could be using anything on my data D drive, I deleted nearly everything on there, there are obviously no programme files in there, so im stumped. Its probably likely that I have made a rookie error along the way, and I am a little bit of a n00b so any help is appricated, thanks, scott Quote
Synapse Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Download and install this Best FREE Partition Manager Freeware for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7. Once disk checks are clear use the Partition Tool to tinker as you need to. Quote
