My music has now been ripped to my laptop going on 3yrs now and I was wondering why some of the songs are sounding so distorted, also the volume just randomly spikes very loud or at times the volume just shuts down but the song is still playing because the song bar continues to roll. My software is windows vista and I was wondering how I can restore it it's original quality.Thank you in advance Ray Retro

Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help,

If this is only on some song or music files but others play perfectly correctly, and it is always the same files, it is most likely that individual files may have become corrupted. There is no way to rescue a corrupted file, it is simpler to delete it and re load from the source if possible.

I have had similar problems when trying to move files in a complete batch, rather than individually, and I was forced to delete the bad ones and reload them.

Nev.
