Black screen of death

I am sure my pc has the black screen of death and I am trying to do a factory reset but

don't seem to be able to I have try f10 f8 with and without alt key can any one help

I assume by E system you mean that your computer is emachine branded.

 

A BSOD is a Blue screen that will display an error message. From what I can tell you are just getting a blank black screen. Is that correct?

 

Assuming it is, there are a number of things that could account for it with a failed hard drive being high among them. What exactly are you seeing and hearing when you try to start the machine? Does this happen every time? The "hearing" part is a bit more difficult. Are you hearing any clicking or grinding sounds and do you get any beeps when you start?

Are you able to boot into Safemode?

 

Does your hard drive show on the boot screen?

 

Does your hard drive show in BIOS?

 

Are you sure the recovery console is installed?

 

Or are you using a recovery disk?

 

Did you repeatedly tap F10 key on startup?
