Redirecting Client OfficeJet

Recommended Posts

I have a Windows Vista laptop with a network connected OfficeJet L7680

printer as its default printer. I am trying to connect to a Windows 2003

Terminal Server and use the client printer. The client printer does not

show up as a configured printer in the terminal server session.

HELP!

RE: Redirecting Client OfficeJet

You can install the printer driver on the Terminal Server.

(for example a dummy printer on LPT1).

Once the driver is installed by an administrator. Any client will get the

redirected printer on his profile.

Beware that the driver on the client must be the same as the driver on the

terminal server.

PCL6 = PCL6

PS = PS

Good luck,

Yuri

I installed the Windows 2003 driver for the OfficeJet L7380 printer on my

server. However, I am still getting an error when I connect the Vista

client computer (event ID 1111). What do I need to do to fix this? Note:

The Vista client has the latest Vista driver installed; The Windows 2003

Server has the latest Windows 2003 driver install (which is an older version

than what is installed on the Vista machine).

Re: Redirecting Client OfficeJet

Mike,

Try to use the same driver on the client and on the TS.

I think you can install a w2k3 officejet driver on vista...

Re: Redirecting Client OfficeJet

I loaded the Windows 2003 Server driver (Ver 7.0) on the server and used the

Terminal Server Printer Redirection Wizard from Microsoft to match it up

with the Vista driver on the client (Ver 8.0). The printer now kind of

works. Unfortunately, for some reason, on many of the documents I print,

the printer only prints the 1st half of the page.

I am assuming that there is some incompatibility between the 2 driver

versions. I tried loading the Vista driver (Ver 8) on the server. That

failed during install, as the HP setup program detected the wrong OS and

wouldn't let me continue. I had the same problem trying to load the Ver 7

driver on Vista.

Typical HP software issues. I'm done beating my head against the wall and

am going to junk the HP OfficeJet and buy a $60 Brother Laser Printer that

has a simple printer driver that runs on all the flavors of Windows.

Re: Redirecting Client OfficeJet

I tried that. The HP driver setup program won't permit the install.
