Does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced printer for a

home office user running a Vista laptop that will work reliably with printer

redirection on a Windows 2003 Terminal Server?

IMHO, find the lowest cost HP LaserJet that uses PCL commands.

This will save you a lot of pain.

In the event a driver does not match up, you can default back

to the generic HP LaserJet PCL driver. Simple and clean.

What is the best way of locating these printers? Some searching at HP

and on Google provides reference guides that have LaserJet series

numbers that are out-of-date. It is probably a PEBKAC however some

guidance would be appreciated.

Head over to hp.com and lookup laser printers. Look at

the laser printers in your price range then go to the

specifications tab and they will tell you whether

or not they use PCL5 or PCL6.

The good thing about HP laserjet printers that use

PCL commands is that if a specific driver does not

exists in W2K, W2K3 or higher, you can always

default to one of the older HP LaserJet PCL drivers

and one of them will always work.
