Windows Encountered a Critical Error and will be restarted

This is the second time I've gotten this in ~ a month. What the hell causes this?

Event viewer says.

 

Faulting application lsass.exe, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x479195b7, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791ad6b, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000000000003206, process id 0x25c, application start time 0x01c8a1dcb97cffce.

 

A critical system process, C:\Windows\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code c0000005.* The machine must now be restarted.

 

Is there a holy Microsoft guru here that knows why?
