Hi,

I have just bought a Samsung B2230H Monitor and The Monitor didn't come with a DVI-D Cable and I don't know where to find out whether I need a Single or Dual Link Cable to Connect to my Radeon HD 4550 Graphics Card?

Can you Please Help!

I have always felt fairly useful when it comes to computers but in this instance I am completely useless.

Hi Hinesy2k5, and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help

Your new monitor has a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080. A single link cable connected to your Radeon card supports resolutions up to 1920 x 1200.

A dual link cable connected to your Radeon card supports resolutions up to 2560 x 1600. I see no advantage in using the dual link cable.

I've reached this conclusion just by swatting up on the specifications. So you may want to hang on for someone with more knowledge to post before making your decision.

I thought I knew today...I'll try again tomorrow. :)

On the back of the 4550 cards there should be a DVI and a VGA cable, if you have any adapters you can run one DVI and one VGA.

Is this your monitor? shows both VGA and DVI

When I google DVI it comes up with several different options and I can't afford to be buying several different cables.

I have 4 different brand Flat screen Monitors, and they all take 18+1 males.

This one is pretty universal.
