Hello DD,

First check that DNS is only pointing to your internal domain DNS server

on nall servers and clients.

Re: can't map network drive

Yes, both client & server point to internal DNS, only can not map to one of

the dc share drive but map to others member server or dc , no problem.

Not sure anything to do with the IIS lock and URL SCAN,

Re: can't map network drive

Have you tried to see if you can browse to the share you're trying to map

to?

Check the "effective permissions" on the folder, for the user trying to map

to it.

Is there anything relevant to this in the Event logs, after you've attempted

to map to the share?

Can browse the computer but can't see the share folder.

i login to that pc using administrator id and that folder granted everyone

access.

Event log not showing anything when try to map from the pc.

Re: can't map network drive

Are these the facts?

- the share is on a Windows 2000 DC

- the PC that is trying to connect to the share on the DC is Windows 2000

- from the PC, you can browse the DC by entering \\DCname

- you see other shares on the DC, and can map to those, but you can't see OR

map to one particular share

Can other PC's map to this particular share on the DC?

Can they even browse to it?

From the DC, in Computer Managment, does the shared folder show up under

Shared Folders/Shares?

Re: can't map network drive

I hear what your concern is; that running IIS Lockdown messed up your shares

but, I don't believe running IIS lockdown does anything to shares on that

box. It only removes part of IIS that are most vulnerable.

And the key here is; you say "other" PC's can map to that share. If that is

the case, then the issue isn't with the server. It's with that one

particular PC.

You had mentioned that you login to the PC as admin, and you granted

"Everyone" access to the share. Have you checked NTFS permissions on that

share? Check the effective permissions, on the share, for the user that

can't access the share.

Re: can't map network drive

I think is on dc server problem, that pc can mapped to other server share

drive, and the remote desktop user also can map to that DC share drive, same

error message invalide user name and password.
