I have recently sold my PC to someone via eBay, and he rang me earlier to say there was a problem, before i sold him the PC i wiped the HDD, and now he is having problems getting a signal to the monitor, the PC has:

ASUS P5Kpl-am epu

ASUS Bravo GT9500 Graphics card

Intel 2.2Ghz Dual Core

He says he has tried various monitors in both ports to no success, and he has taken on the Graphics Card to see if that works and still no success.

I tested the PC before i wiped the HDD and it all worked fine as it was my personal PC, but didn't test after Wiping, does anyone know what the problem could be.

Hello there, possibly he is trying to con you and maybe the computer works.

Has he tried restting the BIOS via the mainboard reset jumper?

He should try resetting the RAM in its slots also. This can cause and issue with getting a signal.

Maybe he has loosened a cable while fiddling around inside.

Is he connecting the monitor before turning the PC on?

cheers for the reply, he said his mate came round and took the BIOS battery out and re-inserted it, i asked if he had loosened any cable and he said no, but it was working before i sent it him, its just got a (new) HDD in it

Sugest to him he tries a diffrent graphics card,he possibly can borrow one from a friend. Then once fitted reset the BIOS.

Is he getting any beeps other than the one post beep on startup?

Tell him to power off and remove ALL RAM,place in one stick and power up,does that work?

Test each stick on its own.

Try disconnecting optical drives such as CD/DVD rom and HDD.Power on the PC does that get a signal?

Is the PC powering on and CPU fan spinning etc?

That board has onboard GPU and an Add in card - check that he has tried both, as depending how its set in the BIOS, (if he has pulled the CMOS battery) then it will revert to onboard GPU (near the USB ports) if he tried that port it should be fine.

To use the add in card you need to enter the BIOS and disable the onboard and set the first device to PCI-E
