Guest nevets2001uk Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I'm having a very annoying issue with Permissions on a server recently added to our domain. We have some software that generates PDF files sent from an old Alpha system. It creates the files in any of 10 directories depending on the document type. It runs as a Local System service and has been working fine until now. Recently the files it creates have not been inheriting permissions from the parent folder. They get Administrator and System Full Control only. We have three groups (1 local, 2 domain) and non of these are given the proper access to newly created files. If I manually create a new file in the directory it inherits the permissions as expected. If I do the replace permissions on all child object from the parent folder the files all get the appropriate permissions. It just seems that they don't get them when they are first created. I've tried so many things, from removing the permissions and re-adding them, to turning inheritiance off and then on to even deleting the folders, re creating them and applying the permissions and share access from scratch. Always with the same result. Any thoughts and ideas would be much appreciated. My heads hurting from banging the wall so many times!! -- Cheers, Steve Gordon MCSE, MCSA: Messaging

Then please post the script content. Guest nevets2001uk Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Re: Permissions Issue We're using a piece of software called StreamServe that recieves the output files from the Alpha, reformats them, prints them to a physical printer and creates a PDF copy at the folder location. I'm not sure how exactly it creates the files though I'm afraid. -- Cheers, Steve Gordon MCSE, MCSA: Messaging "Meinolf Weber" wrote: > Hello nevets2001uk, > > On which way are the files created to the folders, via script? Guest Meinolf Weber Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Re: Permissions Issue Hello nevets2001uk, I would talk to the software vendor maybe they set the permissions automatically. Guest nevets2001uk Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Re: Permissions Issue Thanks. I've got a call out with the vendor at the moment. I do wonder if this could be linked to joining the domain since before we did that we had no issues at all and the files always inherited the correct permissions. It then worked OK for a few days after I messed around with inheritance before stopping again for seeminly no reason. -- Cheers, Steve Gordon MCSE, MCSA: Messaging "Meinolf Weber" wrote: > Hello nevets2001uk, > > I would talk to the software vendor maybe they set the permissions automatically. > > Best regards > > Meinolf Weber > Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers > no rights. > ** Please do NOT email, only reply to Newsgroups > ** HELP us help YOU!!! http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm > > > We're using a piece of software called StreamServe that recieves the > > output files from the Alpha, reformats them, prints them to a physical > > printer and creates a PDF copy at the folder location. > > > > I'm not sure how exactly it creates the files though I'm afraid. > > > > "Meinolf Weber" wrote: > > > >> Hello nevets2001uk, > >> > >> On which way are the files created to the folders, via script?
