Micophone problems advice needed

Hi i was wondering if any one else has had the same problem or simular.

i have a headset with mike that i have been using for online gaming with team speak and ventrilo. Now for whatever reason my mike has stopped working, its all plugged in properly i can hear my self through the headphones. but when i use them with team speak, ventrilo Skype or any other software know body can hear me. Now its not a problem with the headset as i first thought because they work fine with my laptop.

my mike isnt muted either on the mike itself or in windows, and when i do the windows microphone test there is a slider which you can adjust the mike volume but if i move the slider up to full volume it just sinks back to zero which is very strange.

Here are all of my mike settings please can someone help me and let me know what im doing wrong.

Finaly ive up dated the drivers for my sound card and its still all the same.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

So are you using the front panel audio or the back? have you tried both?

 

You might have to use the Realtek control options from within Control Panel and NOT the windows configuration, and just to confirm this is onboard audio and not an add in PCI card?

My mike is plugged in to the back of the PC i have no jacks at the front.

Ive always thought that AC97 was a card but i discoverd earlier its only onboard sound.

i havent got Realtek options on my control pannel only windows sound options and speech.

Realtek make both onboard and add in cards. Other 3rd party companies use Realtek chips too and rebrand their own cards/boards :)

 

So yours is onboard and the only thing you have changed is the driver? and now it doesn't work? are you sure that you installed the correct driver and where did you source the driver from?

i updated the driver after i discovered the mike problem to see if that would fix it which it didnt.

Like i mentioned it was working fine about 12 months or so ago and idint need to use skype, team speak for a long time and now ive decided to use them again i cant get my mike to work.

its not recording any volume. Like ive said i can hear my self through my head phones but as soon as i try and use any soft ware that requires the micophone its not being picked up.

Im thinking of buying a cheap sound card and see if that makes any difference.
