windows media player no sound !

I am a complete novice to computers, so when my widows media player comes up with, no sound device istalled or may not be functioning properly, I am baffled, can anyone help or is this a 'pc repair shop needed'

Do you still get the system sounds to play?

 

In one place could be the source to check is in the device manager. To get there is this:

 

Right click on "My Computer", then click Manage

Then click on Device Manager

 

You might see a Yellow circle with a "!" in it.

what has happened to cause this.any system changes any software lately installed

have you tried a system restore
