Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased a logitech Z 5500 for my laptop. Now as Laptop doesn't have a 5.1 output so I bought a Creative SB 5.1 Xfi External sound card. I installed all the relevant & latest drivers and connected it using a 3*3 3.5mm jack ( One that came with the logitech) and set the logitech control panel on Dolby prologic. I changed all the settings to 5.1 ( Even the sound card options in Control Panel ). Now when I go to the sound test( Creative launch console) there is no response from the center and the rear speaker ( although they do respond when I try the onboard test on Logitech control panel ) . I have tried reinstalling the driver but it is of no use. The sound card was selected as SB 5.1 under all the options.

I tried it on both of my laptop . One runs on Windows XP Pro and the other one is a Asus g73jh running on a Win 7 Home Premium.

Also while playing Splinter cell conviction on Asus g73jh, when I changed the sound output to 5.1 from the ingame menu and tried the ingame sound check it still did not work ...

Please help.....................:(

So you should have:-

Green (front)

Blue/black (rear)

Red/Orange (sub)

Are these the way the phonos are configured?

A slight puzzler here in your first post you say you connected with a 3.3mm jack, do you mean an ordinary jack plug into the sound out from your computer?

If so that is why it doesn't work, if however you have connected via a USB socket and lead it should.

Nev.

It says 3x 3.5mm jacks which would be right for 5.1 sound.

If they are connected correctly then its either the drivers or the software

I'm not sure if you're having the same problem as me but even though I had 5.1 Speakers set through Windows Sound options... my Center speaker sound was coming out of both front speakers and my Left Rear would come out from Left Front and Rear Right from Front Right.

I finally figured out that you also have to set 5.1 Speakers through the Creative Audio Console...which is usually under START >> PROGRAMS >> CREATIVE.

after that, all my speakers work correctly.

Also make sure you have that little switch on the back of the Logitech control unit the 3 plugs are plugged into is set to 6CH Direct...i forgot about that too when I set my speakers up.

Hope this helps!
