AlexanderAubert Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Alright, seems i find myself In a bit of a pickle... When i went to bed last night, Vista was installing the latest patch. Some time later i wake up and see a black screen but Can hear the computer is going. Tired, i hit the power and go to sleep. When i then try to boot this morning, it gets stuck at the Vista load screen. If I use errorfree (sorry, don't know the english word for the setting!) mode, i Can boot. If i do the same with network enabled, though, it does not work. Any help appriciated! Quote

Dalo Harkin Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 It seems that your PC either entered sleep or hibernation mode while either installing the updates or just after. when you turned the PC off it could have been doing updates, which would explain for the pausing at the boot screen. SO if you can use safe mode from the POST screen and get into windows, you should be able to see the event viewer and see what went on Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
RandyL Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I tried systemrestore, but No luck there :/ Were you able to pick a restore point and restore to that point? Can you explain more on that? At what point does it appear to freeze on bootup? Vista can take a very long time to finish an update after rebooting. As Dalo is pointing out the issue could be that the computer was shut down or went into a power saving mode as it was installing the update. Doing a system restore from normal mode or from safe mode might or might not get you out of this. Can you get into safe mode? That's all I have. Please carry on.
