SBS Server 2003 Random Freezes

We have a Dell Poweredge 2900 server running SBS Server 2003.

Randomly client computers will freeze for a few seconds (3-10) when

doing anything from opening a program, to trying to open a file in

Excel. Anything that requires the network.

Dell has replaced the motherboard twice and all the ram with no

solution.

What would you suggest to look at next?

There are no errors in the event log.

Have you ruled out anything to do with your antivirus program? I've had very

slow network performance, although not what I'd call freezing, if my

antivirus program was set to scan network drives.

I'd swap out the NIC as a test - also the switch & patch cables to try &

isolate the problem.

As SBS does many things its own way I also suggest you post in

microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs - I'll set up this reply to x-post

there.
