GRANDAD Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Hi, i have changed my desktop hence this one is running Windows 7.[64bit] Problem being that i have a very good Epson R200 printer which does not appear to be compatable with this system. [i print my discs with it] this is after loading the set up disc. After loading the programme it comes back and says - Driver not installed, if i run a manual set up the disc tray runs in reverse, thats out not in. I have been in daily contact with Epson for well over a week now and they will not give a straight answer re these drivers, its like pulling teeth. I have followed their instructions as to downloading the drivers from their site but albeit that the printer will print it does NOT print discs anymore. as stated above. As a side issue i also have a laptop which is running VISTA and this works fine. Yes a could stick with my laptop on vista BUT there must be a way of getting this printer to run on windows 7 !!. Can a member please assist. Thanking you in anticipation Quote
Synapse Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Is this the driver you are referring to? Epson America, Inc. - EPSON Support - Download Survey If it is, I doubt if anyone will be able to do better than Epson. I found a forum reference to installing the R300 software pack inc CD Print and according to the poster it worked. Quote
GRANDAD Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 Yip its Epson support sites and direct emails from them which to date all fail. I think that Epson do not at this time have an answer to my problem as they keep saying TRY this and supply a link. To me TRY means they are not sure. I have asked if there is a disc i could purchase with the ' new' set up on-to no avail. Once again in my thinking i would have thought that they would say something like -- do a clean install using these links in this order ect. allas they do not. Many thanks for your comments and reply. Quote
GRANDAD Posted October 8, 2010 Author Posted October 8, 2010 As a follow up below is my latest reply from EPSON which indicates to me that at this time there is NO fix for the epson R200 and Windows 7. Thank you for contacting EPSON's UK Customer Inter@ction Centre. In reply to your email, the issue you are experiencing is under investigation. I will email you as soon as I have a fix. I apologise for any inconvenience caused. Synapse Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Thanks, it reads as though there never will be a fix. Shame on you Epson! Quote
Plastic Nev Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I do agree Synapse, Epson do seem to be poor value even in the days of XP. The only manufacturer whose cartridges cannot be refilled being one of many complaints I have seen. Nev Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. pmr881 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Resolution Hi, I work at the Technical department in Epson and I get some calls regarding this issue..... The only thing that may work is to open up the Epson print CD and then click on file then print and then Manual Print and try it that way You will need to do this as we do not fully support this printer on windows 7. If this still does not work then there is not much more Epson can do to be honest, you may need to purchase a printer that is fully compatiable with windows 7, as it has recently been released and it is difficult for Epson to create a driver for this printer because of the age of it If you require more technical help or questions in regards to Epson printers then please do not hesitate to contact me on email address removed for security reasons and I will do my best to try and help you :D Quote
GRANDAD Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 Hi,pmr881, thanks for your comments - i have used the manual CD print but find that the tray runs in reverse, ie out not in. A programme from an other Epson printer was installed and i thought YES its working as the tray was taken into the printer-did its set up run- then ejected the tray without printing. Thanks for giving an honest answer to this problem as ALL the emails from EPSON have never indicated that this printer is not supported by them. [i must have between 8-10 emails over a week or so ] Quote
GRANDAD Posted October 14, 2010 Author Posted October 14, 2010 Possible Epson R200 fix foe Windows 7. Possible Fix for the Epson R200 on Windows 7. This is with the help of a fellow member of PCH who works for Epson. This set up has worked for me as I have now printed a few discs with no problems. I loaded the Epson R200 set up disc as normal, then from this link – http://www.epson.co.uk/Printers-and-All-In-Ones/Inkjet/Epson-Stylus-Photo-R220/Drivers-Support -- downloaded and installed the items which are for the Epson R220. [DRIVER AND CD PRINT] You end with a new icon for DISC PRINT. After setting up this and loading a photo to test the system I clicked print – in the bottom left corner of my monitor I got the message ‘ DIFFERENT DEVICE FROM SPECIFIED ‘ but then the printer – R200 ‘ printed my discs. At this time I have not deleted any items from the Epson R200 set up but may be able to later. I hope this will be of use to fellow members and I hope I have set this out in such a way as people can understand it. Good luck to all. Quote

GRANDAD Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 Thanks NADGER, its good to know that this fix works,up to win 10, I would think that most if not all the Win OS are covered now. Maybe just maybe Epson would put out an update for others who are not on / use FPCH. Quote
