fraufreda Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 formatted my pc yesterday and there were no problems during the installation of windows nor when installing the drivers. I decided then to update the BIOS and downloaded the right version and again the installation was successful. however, after restarting I've got this annoying message saying that new hardware was found "MAXTOR STM3802110A". I have been searching for it BUT couldn't find it. so would you please help finding it thanks in advance Quote
PseFrank Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 The MAXTOR STM3802110A is an internal 80GB HDD (IDE). Do you have more than one hard drive in your tower/PC? If you have a second HDD, this could be either Master or Slave. To find it, go Start > My Computer. How many entrys are there under Hard Disk Drives. What is the make and model of your computer? fraufreda Posted October 3, 2010 Author Posted October 3, 2010 Yes I only have one HDD and it appears in "my computer" as nothing wrong with it. I meant it just works fine. BUT the problem is I keep receiving this pop up message. and when I search for new hardware in the device manager the drive is shown with exclamation mark over it Quote
PseFrank Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 I'm thinking that this is a driver issue. Go to your device manager and under Disk Drives click the plus sign and then right click on the drive and click Update Driver. It's quite likely that someone else here will be able to give you more detailed advice. In the meantime, let us know how you get on. Synapse Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Be a bit careful with this one. Probably the best way to deal with it is to download the up to date chipset drivers for your machine and install them. It should cover the driver file for your drive. If you can post make/model of your machine someone should be able to point you in the right direction. Quote
