KMS - Does it require Non-virtual 08 Servers to count towards the

Does the KMS service only count non-virtual machines running Server 2008

towards the initial 5?

I am trying to roll out 08 Std and am running into problems with getting my

count # to go up. I think I have narrowed it down to actual servers vs

virtual machines. I have done 7 upgrades with 3 being actual and that is the

number the KMS Server is showing as its current count: 3. I figured that it

would be 7 by now, but its not. I didn't see it anywhere that says

specifically that the count is only on real servers...

Hello Dan,

That would be correct. Only Physical machines are coounted.

See this section on KMS Activation Thresholds

in the following link

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc303276.aspx

It talks about counting physical and not virtual machines.

Thanks,
