I have MS Publisher 2007 installed on my own PC but would like to produce some teaching resources for a local charity that uses Publisher 2003. Obviously screen shots would be very useful especially as many of the clients of the charity have memory problems and need step by step pictorial aids. I do have a copy of Publisher 2003 but have not loaded it on my new PC (Vista OS). It does sound like a silly question but can anyone please tell me if it is possible to load two versions of the same application without running into problems? I am very knowledgeable about using the applications but have very little technical knowledge about systems. Please don't suggest splitting my hard drive - it would only add to my grey hairs!

Many thanks in anticipation LindaGB

Hi Linda.

I have in the past used different versions of the same software with no problems including MS Office.

However there is probably a better alternative.

After creating the file do a File>Save as.

Then using the drop down arrow in Save as type choose 2003 or earlier.

Most of these office suites are backwards compatable.

Hi RandyL

Many thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately this is not just a case of compatibility. I have to produce resources for clients of a charity workshop who suffer various health problems that often lead to low self esteem and poor memory. I need to produce step by step guides with both text and pictorial aids. I really do need to produce the resources in the same software to avoid any pitfalls. I am loathe to replace Publisher 2007 with the 2000 version on my home PC as I do use it from time to time. Working within the centre to produce the resources is not practical for various reasons including the lack of screen capture software that I have access to only on my home PC. I have found that if a menu differs or an icon is in a slightly different place the clients loose confidence very quickly. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Kind regards LindaGB

If you save it as 2003 or earlier it will open in Publisher 2003 exactly as it would had you created it in 2003. The 2003 program would remain the same. Try it.
