Guest tim78412 Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 I do volunteer work repairing computers for the disablied. I had an old copy of ME. For several years I used it so I decided to upgrade a computer using win98 to ME. All went find except for 2 problems. The major one is it will no longer read the files system on cd-rw. It sees all files as music. This was not a problem for this machine in win98. How do I work around this problem? Another smaller problem is that the machine no longer shuts down completely by itself. A message comes on screen saying it is safe to turn off the computer. I am guessing this has to do with adci (not sure if those are the right letters I think it is aa power management issue). How do I get it to shut down? Tim
Guest Mart Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 Re: cdrom not reading files "sees" all files as music Regarding the first problem, you may have to re-install any CD writing software utility (Adaptec, Nero, etc.) especially if the cd-rw discs were written using packet writing software.
