XP3 and Virtual PC

Installed SP3 on my workstation and now all my Virtual PC 2007 OS's cannot

get an IP. No changes were made in Virtual PC.

Anyone else seen this? Any workarounds?

Have you tried creating a new virtual machine and attaching the old vhd file

to it?

Also, there is a newsgroup for VPC at microsoft.public.virtualpc where you

can get more specialized help.

Re: XP3 and Virtual PC

This is what I've tried so far with no luck.

1. Remove my NIC from the host and let it reinstall by rebooting.

2. Updated the driver from Dell's website (it was already up to date but

updated anyways)

3. Removed the VM Network Services from the LAN properties on the host and

reinstalled.

4. In the VM OS, I removed the NIC from Device Mgr and restarted it. The NIC

reinstalled.

Re: XP3 and Virtual PC

FYI: This apparently has become a known issue with MS. I contact them.

Unbelievable that this wasn't caught in beta testing. I can see issue with

other vendor software possibly having issue but you would think that MS

would of tested their own darn software against it. Sloppy update once

again....

Re: XP3 and Virtual PC

I had just installed SP3 in VirtualBox but did not check for

connectivity before. I'll check it again later today when I create a

new disc.

Re: XP3 and Virtual PC

No, it works in a virtualbox. Try installing SP3 on your XP host and then

all your virtualbox's will not have network connectivity!

Here is MS official email to me:

"After contacting senior members, seems that we need to install Virtual PC

2007 SP1 for this issue, which has not been publicly released.

I will further monitor the issue with other member to see if there's any

resolution available.

Thank you for your cooperation"

Unbelievable!!

Re: XP3 and Virtual PC

Actually I was referring to the software VirtualBox developed by InnoTek

(now owned by Sun Microsystems). I was going to check to see if they

had the issue and if they did report it to them as a bug. But yea it

looks like there is a bug with VirtualPC then.
