Problems after installing SP2 in Win2k3 on a DC

after installing SP2 on a domain controller i have random computers on the

domain that are getting a "Logon Failure: Target account name is incorrect".

when i look in the event viewer i also see a kerberos error event id 4 and

the user cannot access any network resources. If we wait 5 minutes and then

restart the users computer everything works fine. The only thing i have done

to the server is installed SP2, what could be the problem?

Well, you have some catching up to do in terms of info. SP2, whether

you like it or not, puts the SNP (Scalable Networking Pack) in there

for you and has features enabled by default. A lot of people have had

problems because SNP. Be aware of the following two KB articles

regarding post-SP2 issues:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945977

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939421

Next, ensure you have the *latest* NIC driver. This can often resolve

some things. SP2 and the SNP require drivers that are Network Driver

Interface Specification (NDIS) 5.2 complaint or higher. I would then

suggest getting this KB update to turn off the SNP junk:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948496

See if the NIC driver and the update from 948496 help. Let know how it

goes.
